Ongoing Individual Therapy

My approach to therapy is primarily relational with the goal that you feel seen, validated, and in control of your healing. I take an integrative approach based in mindfulness, psychodynamic, humanistic, dialectical-behavioral,  and trauma informed interventions. I work in collaboration with you to find what promotes the most healing.  I am sex positive, poly and kink affirming, weight neutral, anti-oppression, and trauma informed. Ongoing individual therapy always starts with an intake  that includes a  diagnostic evaluation.  I will collect information about mental health history, contributing physical health factors, and personal/social history to help give an overall picture of presenting issues. I do this in a dynamic, warm, and person-centered fashion. I use the intake and the first few sessions to get a sense of whether or not the working relationship seems like a good fit. If it is not, I will help you by providing referrals.

Gender Affirming Care

I believe that all people have a right to bodily autonomy and access to gender affirming healthcare without the restrictions of therapy or a letter from a mental health therapist. However, if you are over 18 and in need of a letter to access gender affirming care or surgery, I use an informed consent approach and can usually complete a letter in one session, with rare exceptions. Ongoing therapy is not a requirement.

I offer a steep sliding scale for those with no insurance or with insurance I do not accept.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and is effective in treating a variety of other presenting issues such as anxiety, attachment wounding, depression, phobias, and grief. EMDR taps into the individuals innate capacity to heal from traumatic experiences using eye-movements, tapping, or other alternative bilateral stimulation.

I have been certified by the Eye Movement Desensitizaion and Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA)

Check out this video explaining how EMDR works.

Couples Therapy

I am a Level I trained PACT therapist. PACT stands for the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy and developed by Stan Tatkin, PsyD, LMFT.

PACT is an experiential, effective therapy that combines neuroscience, arousal regulation, and attachment theory to help partners become a securely functioning system.  Partnerships can re-create environments reminiscent of our earliest relationships with attachment figures, which is a root of most issues that bring couples into therapy.

PACT holds that there is exceptional healing power in our adult partnership(s) when there is acceptance, understanding, and practices that couples engage in that can help regulate one another and bring each other into a state where they can feel connected and safe.

Sessions are a minimum of 90-minutes.

Supervision/Consultation

I supervise and mentor associate clinicians gaining hours for full mental health counselor licensure. Supervision happens individually or in groups of no more than 3.

I am also a Sexual Minority Mental Health Specialist and offer consultation and guidance for providers in writing letters for clients seeking gender affirming medical care, as well as providing effective therapy for those in the queer, trans, and non-binary community.

Single Sessions and "As Needed Therapy"

Sometimes people find it helpful to meet as needed or just once, rather than every other week. In single session therapy we focus on what you would like to see change by the end of that session with no-expectations of a follow-up session. We leverage your expertise and strengths to solve the problems facing you in this moment, and with consent might include modalities such as breathing and mindfulness exercises, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, rehearsal and solution focused techniques.

With One-Session-At-A-Time, you can schedule at your own pace whenever you would like to check in.

These models are not an appropriate fit for all and ongoing therapy resource may be provided for referral.
